Fall 2026 Improvement Plan
Fall 2026 will be a very busy time for Forest Oaks Park. Along with National Night Out and Trunk or Treat, we have some big plans for making our park more accessible, more beautiful, and more fun! Along with the improvements and enhancements we are bringing to Forest Oaks Park, don't forget about the new pool and Rec Building project at the club!
New Toddler Playground
Anticipated Timeline: Completed by end of September 2026
The current playground was added in March of 2024. Since its opening, we have seen a tremendous amount of use and have been discussing adding more equipment geared for smaller/younger children. The WCID110 Board of Directors approved a new toddler playground in July 2026 to be completed by Playground Boss, the same company who installed our current playground.
The new toddler playground will be located next to the current playground and will be 2,100 square feet. The new playground will have two shaded play structures and an activity wall geared for ages 2 through 5 years old. This new equipment and play structures will accommodate up to 40 children at a time. It will also feature similar rubberized surface for safety. Once completed, we will add additional benches and seating areas along with some additional shades for parents. A new water fountain is being added near Pavilion 1 for easier and quicker access to water as well.

ADA Bathroom Trailer
Anticipated Timeline: Completed by end of September 2026
Forest Oaks Park has needed a 2nd bathroom facility for some time. Due to the increased costs associated with construction, we discussed numerous options. The WCID110 Board of Directors approved the purchase a new two bathroom plus ADA accessible bathroom trailer. This new trailer will be located at the back of the park between Pavilions 4 and 5 along the park road. We will construct a 20'x30' pad site for the trailer along with a large shade structure for the bathroom trailer to reside. We will add power and potable water lines for the trailer along with a new water fountain/bottle fill station/pet water station.
Because this is a trailer and not a permanent structure, it will allow us to move it to a safe location should a need arise (like a hurricane or severe storm). We can also utilize this as an additional bathroom facility for large events in the park or at the Club after pool construction is completed and we host larger swim meets. This flexibility is an added bonus for the District.

Water Fountain and Bench Additions
Anticipated Timeline: Completed by end of September 2026
As hot as it has been all summer, we anticipate it to remain hot for a while longer. We currently have three fountains in the park. One located near the front entrance of the park, one near the back entrance, and one on the current bathroom building. We will add two additional water fountains that include bottle fill stations and pet stations to allow more access to water in more areas of the park.
One new fountain will be added near Pavilion 1 and the playground. This will hopefully provide quicker and more readily accessible water for kids so they don't have to lose too much play time going to and from the bathroom building.
The 2nd new water fountain will be added near the new ADA Bathroom Trailer near Pavilions 4 and 5 at the back of the park. Again, this will provide accessibility to water in an area that has not had a water fountain.

Pavilion and Bathroom Renovations
Anticipated Timeline: Completed by end of November 2026
The current bathroom building has been through a lot from hot summer months to hurricanes and sever storms. We will be doing a full renovation of the bathrooms that will include: Replacing roof shingles, repairing gutters, new bathroom stall walls, new toilets, new sinks, epoxy coated flooring, repainting interior and exterior, and additional of wall-mounted fans to help circulate air. We will be utilizing some bathroom components currently in the pool house, so this renovation will be scheduled once we begin the pool construction project.
Pavilions 4 and 5 along with the pergola at Trey's Creek will be renovated in September and early October. Renovation will include new roof shingles, repairs to soffit and eaves, replacement of any lumber that is cracked or broken, repair/replace of lights or electrical components, and fresh wood stain. Renovation will not impact normal park usage but pavilions will be unavailable for use/rental for the 2-3 days it takes to complete renovation work.
Eagle Scout and Gold Leaf Projects
Anticipated Timeline: Completed by end of October 2026
We are grateful for the wonderful people who want to make a difference in their communities. We are even more excited when a Girl Scout or Boy Scout comes to us and wants to discuss the possibilities of completing their scouting journey by doing a project for our park. We have three projects that are completed or scheduled that will make our park more beautiful and we are thankful for their creativity and hard work. Once these projects are completed, these scouts will be able to achieve the honor of being awarded with their Gold Leaf (Girl Scouts) or Eagle Scout rank (Boy Scouts).
Celeste Vultaggio - Gold Leaf Award
Project: Bat Houses
Celeste Vultaggio has constructed 6 heavy-duty bat houses for the park and they will be installed by our maintenance staff in the coming weeks. Celeste has been awarded her Gold Leaf award upon the completion of her project.
While bats can seem scary, they serve a massive role in helping to protect our outdoor areas. Bats are nature's pest control. A single bat can eat up to 3,000 insects in a single night...up to 1 million insects per year! Adding bat houses to areas of the park will hopefully attract bats to take up residence in the park and do what they do best!
Kelvin Medina - Eagle Scout Project
Project: Pollinator Gardens
Kelvin is part of Troop 355 and will build two above ground pollinator gardens near the slough area behind the big water fall near Pavilion 8. These pollinator gardens provide plants that will attract bumblebees, butterflies, and birds. Once completed, Kelvin will be able to submit his project for the rank of Eagle Scout. The project is currently scheduled for mid-September.
Isaac Cook - Eagle Scout Project
Project: Above Ground Gardens
Isaac plans to build multiple above ground gardens around our playground area to provide space for native Texas plants, insect repellent plants, and overall beautification of the area. Unfortunately, the ground surrounding the playground has a significant amount of traffic year round, so planting and maintaining quality grass is not realistic. These above ground gardens will allow us to plant useful and beautiful plants year round to give the area a much better look. This project is currently scheduled for mid-October.
