Trunk or Treat is coming!!!! Saturday, Oct. 24 from 5 - 9:30 p.m. at Forest Oaks Park
What a difference a week can make in our weather and right now Saturday is looking to be fantastic for our annual Trunk or Treat event. We are very excited to have everyone come out and participate!!!
When: Saturday, Oct. 24
Time: 5 - 9:30 p.m.
Where: Forest Oaks Park
Direct website for all info: Trunk or Treat
Parking: The park parking lots will be closed all day on Saturday, Oct. 24 for normal park usage. The auxiliary lots next to the maintenance building will be available until around 2 p.m. for park users but we will close those as well once we get closer to the event. The park parking lots will be available for those with handicap tags or for those with mobility issues starting at 4:30 p.m. Event parking will be available along Cypress Oaks, Lemm Elementary, lower tennis parking lot. We will have golf cart shuttles running along Cypress Oaks and to Lemm front parking lot if you need a ride to the park.
Event overview:
4:30 p.m. Event check-in opens: All participants must check in in the main park parking lot and get a wristband - this will only take a second - look for the large white tent. Check in consists of a quick QR code scan and getting wristbands...nothing crazy or time consuming.
5 - 7-ish: Trunk or Treat, food trucks, games and activities, rides, photo booths, arts and crafts and great weather!!!
Trunk or treat vehicles will be located around the park road between upper lake and big lake - just keep walking on the road and you will see them all
All games and activities are facilitated by volunteers from Klein Oak and Klein Collins high school. Every time you play a game, you get candy or prizes!!!
"Little kid" games will be closer to the playground and front of the park.
"Big kid" games will be further back in park
7:15 - 9:30 p.m.: Outdoor movie next to the main park parking lot (KPop Demon Hunters) and haunted house in the maintenance building.
For the movie, we will have free popcorn and water/sodas
For the haunted house, the line will form in front of the maintenance building and enter through the classroom - just look for signs!!!
Trunk or Treat Vehicles: This event started as just a Trunk or Treat and obviously it has grown larger over time. As of today, we have six vehicles and always need more. It is not too late to register your vehicle to support the Trunk or Treat. All vehicles registered by Thursday, Oct. 22 will get some help with candy from Forest Oaks. You can find the registration link on the Trunk or Treat website.
Food and drinks: We will have food trucks near pavilion 1 and guests must pay for their own food and sodas during event. We will provide water in multiple locations throughout the event, but only water.
Wooden Pumpkin decorating competition: residents who have submitted wooden pumpkins for the competition are really talented and this year's pumpkins are absolutely amazing once again! The submissions will be located at Pavilion 1 and there will be QR codes for you to scan and submit your votes. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Community Vendor Fair and Community Business Supporters: We have some residents who will also be selling items they make or bake!!! Right now, we have Lisa Billings from Mabel's Made Fresh (sourdough goodies...and I highly recommend the jalepeno cheddar) and Josephine Vargas from Nature Creates Joy crafts (wreaths and plants). Along with these talented vendors, Walgreens staff will be near pavilion 1 administering flu shots if you are interested, and the newly opened Dominique Dawes Gymnastics Academy will have a tent near the main event entrance.
For more info, please visit the Trunk or Treat website and get the info that you need. Again, we are very excited for the event this year and hope you can make it!!!
